Setting the standard for internet safety in the age of AI

Artificial intelligence is transforming how information is created, distributed, and consumed. At the same time, generative AI has accelerated the spread of deepfakes, impersonation, misinformation, and fabricated content at unprecedented scale. What once appeared as isolated incidents has become a systemic risk undermining trust, identity, and credibility across the internet.

Umanitek was founded to address this problem directly.

We build neutral, privacy-preserving infrastructure that enables individuals, organisations, platforms, and institutions to detect, verify, and respond to harmful AI-generated content without surrendering control over their data.

The problem we solve

AI-generated content now moves faster than the systems designed to govern it.

Deepfakes, fake accounts, manipulated narratives, and hallucinations produced by large language models increasingly blur the line between reality and fabrication. Existing solutions are fragmented, platform-bound, or dependent on centralised data sharing making coordinated response slow, costly, or impossible.

Our approach

Umanitek operates a decentralised architecture based on OriginTrail Decentralized Knowledge Graph that allows platforms, organisations, and authorities to signal and verify harm without sharing underlying data. This approach removes many of the structural barriers legal, geopolitical, and competitive that currently prevent effective collaboration against digital harm.

Our infrastructure is designed to scale globally while respecting local governance, jurisdictional boundaries, and individual rights.

Who we are

Umanitek was founded by Chris Rynning, Aza Raskin, Tomaž Levak, Žiga Drev, and Branimir Rakić, bringing together expertise across technology investment, AI ethics, decentralised infrastructure, and large-scale systems design. Trace Labs, Ethical Capital Partners, and AMYP Ventures AG participated as founding shareholders.

The company builds on proven decentralised knowledge infrastructure originating from OriginTrail, whose technology is already used as critical infrastructure by organisations including the British Standards Institution, Swiss Federal Railways, and global supply-chain networks.

Umanitek is backed by institutional and angel investors, including KBW Ventures, Magnus Grimeland (Antler), and a Piëch family office.

To support long-term governance and global alignment, Umanitek is advised by an international advisory board spanning Europe, the United States, and the Middle East. The board comprises investors and technology leaders with deep experience in AI, security, and digital trust, including Joe Betts-LaCroix, Yalda Aoukar, and Anastasios Economou, who contribute strategic oversight across technology, investment, and global markets.

Our mission

Our mission is not to moderate the internet but to make verifiable trust possible at scale.

As AI systems increasingly shape reality itself, society requires new infrastructure to distinguish what is real, what is fabricated, and how harm can be addressed without sacrificing privacy or freedom.

Umanitek exists to build that infrastructure and to help set the standard for internet safety in the age of AI.
