In a Forbes Paraguay interview, Umanitek Paraguay Country Manager Christian Cieplik warns that AI-generated impersonation is already here, and that it may have reached people without them knowing.

No one has a guarantee that there isn’t a fake profile in their name. That is the warning from Christian Cieplik, Country Manager of Umanitek Paraguay, in a conversation with Domingo Martín Carlomagno Martínez, Editor at Forbes Paraguay.

A Danger That Is Present Today

Many people still think of deepfakes and AI impersonation as something that might happen one day. Cieplik disagrees.

“It’s a danger that is present today. Many people see it as something in the future, a problem that could come. The reality is that it’s not like that.”

He points to real cases Umanitek has seen first-hand: fake profiles created to impersonate someone, and AI-generated images made to harm a person’s reputation. As he puts it, “It’s a current problem.”

The Cases We Detect Are the Good Ones

According to Cieplik, the cases Umanitek has caught are the good ones, because at least they were identified. The real problem is everything happening that no one knows about: fake profiles, manipulated images, and campaigns pushed in the names of real people.

“Imagine everything that is happening today. Maybe there’s already a photo of you somewhere saying something absurd or pushing some campaign. What guarantee do you have today? I can’t sign a blank check that no one is impersonating me. I have no guarantee.”

Awareness Is the Biggest Challenge

When Carlomagno asked how Umanitek is helping people understand the harm and know that detection tools exist, Cieplik called it “our biggest challenge today.”

Everyone wants to protect themselves and keep their name clean. The hard part is helping people understand that the problem already exists, and that it may have reached them without them noticing.

Building Trust in an AI-Generated World

This is the work behind Umanitek’s AI Safety Infrastructure:

  • Guardian detects and takes down impersonation, fake accounts, and scams.
  • TrueSeal verifies content and detects deepfakes.
  • Blackbox protects AI agents from being tricked or manipulated.

Verification is supported by the OriginTrail Decentralized Knowledge Graph (DKG), so every detection is anchored and can be checked.
