Introducing the Umanitek Red Teaming Initiative

Protect yourself. Protect others. Help build the safety infrastructure of the modern web.

Zug, Switzerland, December 3, 2025: Today, we’re opening applications for the Umanitek Red Teaming Initiative – a global community of early adopters, technologists, creators, and online citizens who want to meaningfully shape the future of digital identity safety.

Impersonation, identity fraud, and deepfakes have become some of the most significant threats of the modern web. When anyone’s likeness can be stolen, edited, and amplified in minutes, the question is no longer what’s happening online – it’s what are we going to do about it?

The Umanitek Red Teaming Initiative is our answer: a community of people who want to test, challenge, and strengthen the Guardian Agent while also protecting their own digital presence. It’s built on the belief that safety on the internet should not be centralized – it should be informed, distributed, and driven by the people who use it every day.

What is the Umanitek Red Teaming Initiative?

The Umanitek Red Teaming Initiative is a network of committed individuals who will help us evaluate, pressure-test, and improve the Guardian Agent – Umanitek’s decentralized safety layer designed to detect impersonation, label fake accounts, and protect people from identity fraud.

Unlike traditional red teaming, which relies on narrow fields of expertise, the Umanitek Red Teaming Initiative is designed for mission-aligned contributors:
– People who care deeply about online safety.
– People who are curious, technically comfortable, and eager to engage.
– People who want to help build – and be protected by – a new kind of safety infrastructure.

Participation is open globally through a waitlist system. Applicants will be screened based on mission alignment, understanding of the problem, and willingness to contribute. We’ll begin activating members in waves starting in January.

What Umanitek Red Teaming Initiative members do?

Initiative members help strengthen Guardian in real-world environments by using two core tools:

1. Browser Extension – Help Label the Modern Web
Members can install the Guardian browser extension to:
– Spot and label suspicious or fake accounts
– Capture signals from social media platforms
– Contribute to a decentralized understanding of online impersonation patterns
These signals help Guardian identify harmful content and impersonation attempts at scale.

2. Guardian Account Protection – Be a Guardian, While Being Guarded
Red Team members also gain access to Guardian’s identity-protection features:
– Protect your own identity, likeness, and personal profiles
– Receive alerts when your name or profile pictures appear in unexpected contexts
This makes the Red Teaming Initiative both user and contributor – strengthening the system while benefiting from its safety features.

Why join the Umanitek Red Teaming Initiative?

Joining the Red Teaming Initiative is an opportunity to meaningfully influence the development of decentralized identity safety technologies. You’ll help shape how the internet protects people from deepfakes, impersonation, and identity misuse.

Members will:
– Play a key role in testing and shaping Guardian
– Engage with a global community passionate about online trust
– Gain early access to features and future safety innovations
– Help define the standards for the emerging trust layer of the web

Your perspective – whether technical, creative, investigative, or community-driven – helps ensure the system reflects the real experiences of the people it is built to protect.

Incentives & Recognition

Because this is a long-term, shared effort, we’re committed to recognizing and rewarding real contributions. Incentives include:

Exclusive community-driven rewards, made possible by Umanitek’s network of partners, advisors, and early backers: curated events, behind-the-scenes access, real-world experiences, unique gatherings – for those who dedicate the most time and effort.
Opportunity to join Umanitek’s extended core community (research groups, feedback sessions, early access to future features) – for our most active and committed contributors.
